John's Journey Away from High Cholesterol

John is doing better at remembering to take his nutritional supplements.
He is also sleeping better and a bit more active during the day. He is not as cranky as he had been, and is more accepting of his health issues.
Progress.

John's Journey continues...

John is taking his Cholesterol Reduction Complex as directed now. This formula is a two-part dosage system.

At first, remembering to take them 30 minutes before a meal was a challenge... but then he would also forget to take the second dose.

So now I just set the bottle on the counter and when he goes in the kitchen he is reminded to take the afternoon dose. That was simple. I wish I could set the treadmill on the counter. :)

Blessings & good health,
Linda

John's Journey Away from High Cholesterol

Well, yesterday John began his journey...and he has already taken a side trip backwards.

He is scheduled to eat more veggies and fruit [3 veggies to 1 fruit], take his vitamins and other nutritional supplements and his Cholesterol Reduction Complex. And yesterday he did fairly well with his food choices, and he took his normal supplements--he takes Vitalizer, but he forgot to take his second dose of CRC.

If I remind him, then it will be necessary to continue to remind him, so I'm not going to do that. We'll see how this goes...and see if he remembers tonight when I am not home...

John's Journey Away From High Cholesterol

John has a cholesterol of 239.
It is not dangerously high, but he recently made the decision to take a natural approach to lowering that value.
For breakfast he normally has an Shaklee Energizing Soy Protein Shake [vanilla] with a teaspoon of Shaklee's Fiber added. Today he started taking our Cholesterol Reduction Complex and I will be posting on a regular basis about his journey to better health.
Of course he is not happy making food and lifestyle changes, but after having several TIA's he knows he must do this.
Tomorrow I will post his daily vitamins and food choices.
Please keep John in your prayers--he will have his good days and his bad days, and with his wife recording everything on the Internet...well, just pray for us both :)

Why YOU Need More B-Vitamins

By Kate Kelland [updated 9/9/2010 7:21:59 AM ET]

LONDON — Daily tablets of large doses of B vitamins can halve the rate of brain shrinkage in elderly people with memory problems and may slow their progression toward dementia, data from a British trial showed on Wednesday,

Scientists from Oxford University said their two-year clinical trial was the largest to date into the effect of B vitamins on so-called "mild cognitive impairment" -- a major risk factor for Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.

Experts commenting on the findings said they were important and called for larger, longer full-scale clinical trials to see if the safety and effectiveness of B vitamins in the prevention of neurodegenerative conditions could be confirmed.

"This is a very dramatic and striking result. It's much more than we could have predicted," said David Smith of Oxford's department of pharmacology, who co-led the trial.

"It is our hope that this simple and safe treatment will delay development of Alzheimer's in many people who suffer from mild memory problems."

Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) affects around 16 percent of people aged over 70 worldwide and is characterized by slight problems with memory loss, language or other mental functions.

MCI does not usually interfere with daily life, but around 50 percent of people diagnosed with it go on to develop the far more severe Alzheimer's disease within five years. Alzheimer's is a mind-wasting disease for which there are few treatments and no cure, and which affects 26 million people around the world.
